Homunculus: Am I really around the corner?

Photography by Pollyanna Kaisa Nowicki

I am nearing the end of ArtsLab, and I can’t believe how fast the last few weeks have flown. In this flurry, my piece is finally beginning to develop a pair of wings of its own (several pairs, in fact) and I am relishing the flight of many of my most treasured ideas and images.

Homunculus has endured three structural framework renovations including many re-writes and edits, a sound and set reconfiguration, and now, the process of delicately fine-tuning each of the movement sequences that have been brewing in my body for the last six weeks.

I am fairly speechless at the moment, as my mind and body are well into the ‘Rachel must keep developing’ phase of this work.

However, I’ve decided I would like to share some of my inspiration for this piece … yes, cryptic clues!

Sitting. Stumbling. Standing. Rising. Walking.

Feet. Children.
